Tiffany&Co
Classic example of Art Nouveau style brooch, made by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The simple yet beautiful form in the warm setting of old gold matches perfectly with the deep green of the nephrite and shining enamel. The nephrite, called the stone of life, has been known since prehistory and was one of the most stones popular during the Art Nouveau era.
Louis Comfort Tiffany, born 18 February 1848 in New York was the son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, founder of Tiffany & Co. Louis created items mostly from glass and was an early adapter of glass lampshades. He did not shy away from designing jewelry either though. His favorite style was Art Nouveau, a style which he perfected. The artist died on 17 January 1933 in New York.
