Victorian Brooch with Amethysts and Diamond Rosettes
Price range: (10 000 zł - 25 000 zł)
A rare collector's item with the timeless charm and the atmosphere of the Victorian era. The style of jewelry of the late 19th century was greatly influenced by the rapidly developing natural sciences. After 1850, new decorative motifs faithfully reflecting nature appeared in jewelry. Plant and zoomorphic representations in jewelry designs were appreciated by the elite of Europe of the time. The construction of the brooch is made of gold in the form of two fighting spring beetles (trypocopris vernalis) whose unusually iridescent armor is perfectly reflected in two dark purple cabochon cut amethysts. On the backs of beetles sit two sparkling diamond flies, whose ruby eyes reflect the seriousness and horror of insects fighting. The excellent jewelry craftsmanship, the live fire of diamond rosettes, and wonderful color of the amethysts makes it a jewel not only for lovers of the Age but also a museum-quality object.
