This pair of earrings is a classic 1980s/1990s design, by one of the most well known jewelry houses, Van Cleef & Arples. Made in 18 carat gold, the wide semicircle was decorated with an irregular zigzag. The interior of the zigzag pattern is filled with perfectly brilliant small diamonds to emphasize the contrast.

Van Cleef & Arples - French jewelry house founded in 1896 by Alfred Van Cleef and Salomon Arpels. In 1906 they opened a jewelry store in Paris. Soon Julien joined the company and in 1913 Louis Arples joined it. They distinguished themselves with unusual designs, high quality precious metals and gemstones as well as precision workmanship quickly gained recognition among the elite, and so formed further branches in Nice, Monte Carlo,  and Vichy. Van Cleef & Arples were the first French jewelers to open stores in Japan and China. Their clients include business, political and cinema personalities as well as Empress Farah Pahlavi, for whom they made a crown for the occasion of her coronation in 1967.
