A wonderfully and fancifully shaped Art Nouveau style. Old cut diamonds (old mine cut) accompanied by diamond rosettes with a centrally placed Verneuil ruby, which was an absolute hit at the time. In 1888, the French chemist A.V Verneuil obtained through his laboratory method the first synthetic rubies suitable for jewelery purposes.

Auguste Victor Louis Verneuil (November 3, 1856 – April 27, 1913) French chemist best known for inventing the first commercially viable process to produce synthetic gemstones. In 1902, he discovered the "flame fusion" process, called the Verneuil process, which is still in use today as a way to produce artificial corundum, rubies and sapphires.
