Cartier Jewellery House
Louis - Francois Cartier started his business in Paris in 1847, when he took over the workshop of the famous watchmaker Adolph Picard. The workshop sign read: "Louis-Francois Cartier, successor of Monsieur Picard, manufacturer of jewellery, fancy decorations, fashion accessories and novelties." In 1898, his son Alfred moved the studio to the world of luxury, i.e. Rue de la Paix 13 in Paris. The brand became more and more famous and recognizable, and subsequent branches were established in London and New York. Alfred handed the company over to his three sons, the oldest of whom, Louis, who managed the Paris showroom, received the title of "Jeweller of Kings, King among Jewellers" from the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII. The brand is still synonymous with luxury goods, exclusive jewellery and elegant watches.
