Casimir Geibel

The work is a typical example of realistic historical painting, which reached its highest level at the end of the 19th century in bourgeois Germany of that time. In the spacious interior of the inn, two groups of people were placed on a parallel plan. On the left side there is a musical octet which makes the time of the group of townspeople on the right side more pleasant. In front we can see a small florist offering small snowdrop bouquets. From afar a charming innkeeper emerges, shrouded in a delicate glow coming from the obscured window. The author captured the whole range of human feelings painted on the faces of the feasters with extraordinary sensitivity. A multitude of very precisely rendered details, e.g. carelessly scattered sheets of paper, from which we can almost read the score, the head of a shaggy dog emerging from between the legs of the participants of the meeting, patches on the florist's skirt or details of the interior decoration testify to the excellent painting workshop and artistry of the author. The picture is complemented by a perfectly selected frame. The canvas and the painting layer are in good condition. Signature placed in the left bottom: "75 C GEIBEL." On the frame there is a sign with the inscription: The Farewell Party CASIMIR GEIBEL 1839 - 1896
