About the brand: Ferdinand Adolph Lange, born in 1815 in Dresden, already at the age of 15, showed extraordinary skills by taking up a job in a prestigious watchmaker's workshop. In 1845 he opened his own workshop in the town of Glashütte. In 1868, his son joined him and the name A. Lange & Söhne was established. One of Ferdinand's most significant achievements was certainly the introduction of the metric system into watchmaking and a new more precise measuring devices such as the caliper. Ferdinand himself is referred to as a reformer of the watchmaking industry. The company's golden days were interrupted by the Second World War. It was only in 1990 that Walter Lange registered the brand once again.
