Price range: (> 50 000 zł)
This sewing or embroidery kit is made of gold with extraordinary precision and attention to detail. The beautiful multicolor enamels cover even the smallest surfaces of individual elements. In the leather case decorated with the method of kurdyban there are: thimble, needle holder, container with needles, scissors with cover, eyelet needle and pencil holder. The tool set dates back to 1840, the year when every lady from the aristocracy, apart from painting, playing an instrument or learning foreign languages, had to know the basics of embroidery. The production of the set is attributed to Jean Francois Bautte's studio.
Jean-Francois Bautte&Cie.
Jean Francois Bautte (1772-1837) one of the best Swiss watchmakers and jewelers, who in 1793 entered into a partnership with Jacques Moulinie. Initially they were involved in the production of watch cases, but in a short period of time a large factory with the entire production line of both cases and mechanisms was built from a small workshop. His miniature watches, which resembled musical instruments, flowers, animals and the most famous model in the shape of a perfume spray gun, were bought by the social elite of Europe at that time. His clientele included Queen Victoria of England and Princess Clermont-Tonnere. Bautte specialized in the construction of the thinnest watches in the world. In addition, he designed jewelry and trinkets as well as exclusive utility items such as sewing tools.
