The work is typical work of this artist depicting the beauty and tranquillity of the Dutch landscape. Based on insightful studies, it seems to be monotonous, but is animated by small scenes. In the foreground, a rowing boat floats along a wide flowing river, in which  two travelers are seen. On the left side we can see a small cape with a fisherman sitting in a moored boat. Somewhat in the distance in the next boat the rowers carry a passenger. Behind the bend at the shore they proudly work on the masts of the anchored sailing boat. On the right side of the dyke there are two men arguing with each other. Below the bridge, a fisherman pulls a fish out of the water. In the direction of the men on the bridge, on a white steed, an elegantly clad nobleman follows. In the background, in the middle of the trees, rural thatched huts are visible. The artist was certainly a lover and a good observer of nature. This is evidenced by the trees and shrubs perfectly reflecting on the surface of the water, the beautiful ducklings shimmering with a yellowish shade of gold, the birds floating above the water, as well as the cattle shown on the shore. In addition, he was able to create the impression of clouds moving across a pale blue sky. The work speaks with the mood of poetic calm, enchants with its freshness and atmospheric brightness. The varied palette of colors, on the other hand, turns towards vivid images of water and a high sky covered with clouds. The work is kept in the spirit of Mannerism. The painting is in good condition. There is a small five millimetre abrasion in the lower right corner in the part of the vegetation, but it has no influence on the aesthetic or material value of the work dating from 1629. The board on the back bears traces of parquet flooring. The signature is placed parallel to the rod standing under the bridge of a man: "Nein 1629"

About the artist: (1597 - 1639) A painter from the Netherlands. He lived and worked during the Golden Age of Dutch painting. De Neyn or according to some sources (E. BENEZIT, DICTIONNAIRE TOME 3) - Deneyn was born on December 16, 1597 in Leiden. From an early age, the artist showed interest in mathematics and architecture, but his parents could not afford proper education, which is why the young de Neyn took an apprenticeship in a bricklaying workshop. Eagerly and quickly assimilating knowledge in this field, he soon became a master bricklayer himself. This enabled him to finance painting studies in the studio of Esaias van de Velde (1587-1630), one of the best Dutch landscape painters of his time, who was active in Haarlem. In de Neyna's works we can also find fascination with painting by Jan van Goyen (1596-1656) and Salomon van Ruisdael (1600-1670), renowned landscape painters. In 1617 the artist moved to Leiden to continue his career as a landscape painter after his marriage. His favorite subject was the rural landscapes of the Netherlands. He also did not avoid battle scenes. De Neyn died on 16 March 1639 of a common lung disease among bricklayers. Beautiful monochromatic works of the artist can be admired in numerous European museums, including the National Museum in Warsaw, where the painting "Landscape with an Inn" from around 1629 can be found.
