Salomon Leon Sarluis

Price range: (25 000 zł - 50 000 zł)

The decorative character of the harmonious and subtle composition is emphasized by the unrealistic, cupid heads emerging from the background, painted en grisaille (colorless, with different grayscale intensities). On the other hand, the sea shells placed in the foreground: pineapple, bunch of grapes, pomegranate fruit and incredible beauty reflect the Mediterranean climate of work. The painting is a kind of rarity on the painting market, as it was painted in 1892, i.e. in the very early creative period of this outstanding artist. His later work did not refer to the works of the Pre-Raphaelites, although in the works of the Symbolists, and his later works one can find points of contact with the painting of this artistic group. The signature placed in the left bottom of "Sam Sarluis 1892" is well embedded in the painting. The canvas as well as the painting are preserved in good condition.
