Hermann Hemstedt

Price range: (10 000 zł - 25 000 zł)

The painting was created in 1876 at a time when Historicism in Germany rose to the heights of painting. In a small, darkened room we see a group of people feast. A dancing couple comes to the fore and the laughing faces of the feasters contrast clearly with the austerity and simplicity of the interior. The whole piece is painted in warm colors of various shades of brown, broken by the white of the tablecloth and the front part of the dancer's skirt. Small spots of saturated red seem to complement the composition. The signature is placed in the lower right corner: "Hemstedt 76." Canvas in good condition, properly stretched. Painting layer covered with freshly laid varnish. A spectacular but not over-ornamented frame with a plaque containing an inscription: "H.Hemsdedt 1876"
